Our flagship salon opened in 2006 at Five Ways which is located close to Birmingham City centre. It has since become one of the leading hair salons in Birmingham. With fifteen chairs and a team of 15 people from stylists, technicians, assistants to the front of the house making sure our team offers you the highest levels of cutting, colouring and customer care offering a variety of services to meet everyone’s desires.
Over the years James Bushell hair has grown from one salon to four salons across the Midlands. The James Bushell Hair team works hard to continuously give a high standard of training to maintain our professional standards.

Conveniently located at Five Ways, close to Edgbaston with some free parking in front of the salon. The salon is at the end of Broad Street, just a short stroll from Five Ways station and easily accessible on foot or by bus from Birmingham city centre. Look out for the Marriot Hotel – we’re just opposite.
Meet The Team
James Bushell - Director
James Bushell has been one of Birmingham’s leading hairdressers for over 20 years. His reputation precedes him and has left him with 4 salons across the West Midlands area. James always had a passion for more creative subjects at school, and it was this that draws him to hairdressing. Having trained with the best, James’ career started in his mum’s garage. Fast forward two decades and the James Bushell brand is well known across Birmingham and beyond. After opening his Edgbaston Salon in 2006, the only way James wanted to go was up. He succeeded with this by opening his Solihull Salon in 2014, closely followed by his Harvey Nichols Salon in 2016 and his newest salon Sutton Coldfield in 2018.
James G – Salon Manager
James has over 20 years’ experience in the hair industry and has worked his way up to artistic stylist and salon manager at James Bushell Hair Edgbaston. Working on numerous photoshoots for the likes of style magazine and The Mailbox. Education is important at James Bushell Hair and James focuses on giving a high quality of training to our assistants to maintain our high professional standards.
Craig – Artistic stylist
Artistic stylist Craig has over 16 years’ experience in the hair industry. Craig is one of our busiest stylists here at James Bushell but also specialises in Bridal, hair up, colouring and wig styling. Craig has worked on cruise ships, photoshoots, London fashion week, Sydney fashion week and the hair for numerous reality stars.
Sharon – Creative stylist
Creative stylist Sharon works at our Edgbaston salon, with over 15 years experience in the industry! Sharon has a passion for a great service and loves creating glamourous hair and specialises in long hair and hair up.
Tace – Artistic technician
Tace has been a colour technician for 20 over years, she has been apart of the James Bushell Hair team since our Edgbaston salon first opened its doors in 2006. Tace’s wealth of knowledge and experience has developed her a very loyal and long-standing clientele.
Sophie – Technician
Sophie has been working at James Bushell hair for over 6 years. She started as an assistant and over the years has worked hard to work her way up to a colour technician. Sophie has been on the salon floor for over 4 years now and has also gained her Wella Essential colouring and studio education qualifications. Sophie specialises in balayage and loves how each balayage is bespoke colour tailored to the client’s desires.
Allan – Artistic technician
Allan is an artistic colour technician at our Edgbaston salon; he has a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked in the hair industry for over 20 years. Allan has gained his L’Oréal colour specialist qualification and his Schwarzkopf master colour award; he was also a member of the Toni & Guy break through art team. Allan loves the fact no two colour are the same, he believes in creating bespoke high fashion looks tailoring them to the individual’s wants and needs.

James opened his flagship boutique hair salon, which is located close to Birmingham City Centre, at Fiveways, Edgbaston. Following the success of the Birmingham hair salon, the second salon opened in Solihull Town Centre. The third salon is located in Harvey Nichols in The Mailbox, Birmingham City Centre with our Sutton Coldfield hairdressing salon opening late 2018, located in the heart of Mere Green on the new Mulberry Walk development – giving customers the choice of 4 convenient salon locations, wherever you are based in the city of Birmingham and surrounding areas. Our latest salon is located in the centre of Manchester within the Harvey Nichols store, opening in early 2020.
